More talks are slated between Syria and Israel as the two countries work toward a peace agreement.

A low-profile peace process is under way in which the two principals are Israel and Syria and the go-between is Turkey. It is based on the idea that the Syrians would fully normalize relations and the Israelis would give up all or almost all of the Golan Heights.

The next round of indirect talks is scheduled for September 18th; the day after Israel's ruling Qadima party holds its primary.

Syrian President B'shar Assad has been quoted as saying a deal cannot be closed until after Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and President Bush leave office.
