It's Weather Emergency Preparedness Week in Pa.

by KYW’s Lynne Adkins

All this week, Pennsylvania state and local officials and workers will be testing how well they perform in extreme weather conditions.

This is Weather Emergency Preparedness week in the Commonwealth, time set aside to make sure people know what to do when the bad weather hits. Justin Fleming is a spokesman for the state emergency management agency:

“We deal with many types of severe weather from flooding to snow storms. There have been tornadoes that hit in 2006.”

He says groups will be testing their systems all week, with a statewide event set for Thursday:

“The state emergency operation center will participate in that exercise, along with school districts, nursing homes, hospitals and day care centers all across the state.”

Activities will be monitored so adjustments can be made where needed.
