New Voter Drive Looks to Draw in More Young People

by KYW's Karin Phillips

A new voter campaign is being launched, designed to get young people actively involved in the electoral process.

Countdown to Youth Vote is directed toward getting more multi-cultural youth from around the country engaged in the upcoming presidential election and in the voting process in general.

Susan Gonzales is senior director of Federal and External Affairs for Comcast. She says the upcoming election is generating a lot of excitement among America's young people, but:

"There is a potential to be a disconnect of generating excitement but actually getting them to register and to vote. And the Comcast effort is to provide the resources necessary to encourage them even more so to take the actions necessary to become part of the electoral process."

The campaign will include PSA's with people like RayJay, Kristi Yamaguchi, and America Ferrera, along with efforts on the website OurTimetoVote.com.
