Some Septa commuters may be vowing to take the steps from now on. The transit agency says 5 people were stuck in an elevator at the 69th Street El station, in Upper Darby, for forty minutes.
The elevator goes just one flight, from the platform to the street.
It's not known why the elevator malfunctioned but firefighters had to crawl through the shaft to free the people inside.
There were no injuries.
