New ''Please Touch'' Museum Prepares for Major Reopening

by KYW's Karin Phillips

Some selected visitors and the members of the media got an early look on Wednesday at the new Please Touch museum in Fairmount Park (see previous story).

A ride on the beautifully restored, 100-year-old Dentzel Carousel (above) wrapped up the tour of the new Please Touch museum at Memorial Hall.

Galleries upstairs and downstairs are filled with interactives for kids, including water games.  The play-on Septa bus is back, and so is the play-in supermarket, which is larger and more interactive.

Nancy Kolb, president and CEO of the museum, says there will be a big public opening on October 18th:

"It's a citywide celebration, which I think is really quite spectacular."

Another featured attraction is the old, and beloved, Enchanted Colonial Village, an animatronic Christmas display from the old Lit Brothers department store.  It will be up through the holidays and, according to officials, will once again be a holiday tradition each year from now on.
