CareerBuilder.com published a survey of the top 10 most popular majors and what salaries they pay.
The list published in alphabetical order starts with biology with biochemists making almost $39,000 a year to start; business administration and management starting at $57,000 then communications, which encompasses broadcasting and journalism -- two of the most popular majors at Temple University.
Assistant Dean of Administration for the school of Communications and Theater, Sandy Kyrish, says while most students want to work for a mass media outlet this is one degree that doesn't limit them, if they don't get a job in one:
"The great thing about a communications degree is it's the form then you can apply it to what ever content is of interest to you."
Communications salaries start just over $30,000. Also on the list are criminal justice, computer science, education, nursing, political science and psychology.
