Students Name Univ. of Pennsylvania Among 10 Most Desirable Colleges

by KYW's Mark Abrams

The University of Pennsylvania is now ranked among the top 10 “dream schools” across the nation, where prospective students would like to get accepted.

Penn was ranked 10th in the survey of prospective college students conducted by the Princeton Review between September and this month. For the third straight year, New York University was ranked first, followed by Harvard, Stanford, Princeton, and Columbia.

Meghan, a Penn freshman from Austin, Tex., hasn’t declared her major yet. She says Penn has so many possibilities for her and that’s why it was never a doubt she’d be here:

“It was Top 10 for me -- more than Top 10. Top one.”

What is it about Penn that’s so appealing to her?

“It’s not only an Ivy League school -- so, great academics -- but great social life. Like today, this is like where I’m in a sorority. I have lots of activities outside of my classes. So, it’s not just academics. That’s what makes it so great.”

The Princeton survey also asked parents where they’d like to see their kids go. Penn didn’t make the cut.
