A city councilwoman is inviting president-elect Barack Obama to visit Philadelphia as he begins to form a health care plan for the new administration.
As he sharpens his presentation for the January inaugural address, councilwoman Marian Tasco (in photo above) says "why not get Philadelphia's input?"
"He can have some substantive information about how we need strong health care legislation."
Locally, an estimated 136,000 Philadelphians are uninsured and unable to afford access to decent health care, according to Tasco. She says a health care tour for Mr. Obama is appropriate because the president-elect ran a campaign that had a significant focus and a promise of affordable and accessible health care for everyone.
Here's the other inducement:
"It would be great to come to Philadelphia, which gave him so many wonderful votes."
