Back at the transition team, a well-known local leader may be on the cabinet short list and he's not a Democrat.
Sources in Washington report to us that former New Jersey Governor Tom Kean (file photo above) is one of several possible nominees for Homeland Security secretary or the National Security council.
Kean, a New Jersey Republican icon, was not too happy about the state of affairs in the Republican party, seeking a more moderate path.
He was co-chair of the 9/11 Commission, most of whose recommendations were not implemented by the White House. The other chair of the commission, former Democrat Congressman Lee Hamilton, is part of the Obama inner circle.
Kean served as NJ governor from 1982 to 1990.
