Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell says he hasn’t had a chance to speak in recent weeks with lieutenant governor Catherine Baker Knoll, who is being treated for cancer.
Four weeks ago, Governor Rendell announced that Lt. Governor Knoll (in file photo above) was at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, and at that time said he was hoping for a chance to speak with her.
In the four weeks since then, Knoll has been transferred to a physical therapy facility in Maryland to deal with an infection, and Rendell says he still hasn’t had a chance to talk to her:
“I’ve spoken to the family, and I’ve given them my best wishes and said when she’s up to it, I’d love to speak to her. And when she is, I’m sure she’ll call me.”
Rendell was asked if he’s been given a prognosis for the lieutenant governor:
“Future prognosis, no, other than, you know, it is a rough and difficult fight and it's certainly a critical fight. But nothing beyond that.”
Rendell says Knoll is facing a “virulent” strain of cancer.
