Girl Scouts Seek Sales Tips From Penn's Wharton School

by KYW's Karin Phillips

A group of girl scouts will be getting business lessons from Penn's Wharton School in an effort to increase cookie sales.

When girl scouts try to sell you cookies next February, don't be surprised if they seem a little sharper in their sales pitches. About 100 girl scouts will be getting business lessons from students at Penn's Wharton School to help shape up their cookie sales. Gari Brindle is vice president of marketing for the girl scouts of eastern Pennsylvania:

"They are going to be really helping them to be more confident, speaking in front of strangers and crowds, and even businesses. They're going to enable them to create marketing plans and give them the professional skills they need to have an amazing cookie season in February, which is our cookie sales month."

Brindle says there may be more business lessons for other girl scouts in other parts of the state before February.
