Local Org. Hosts Fundraiser to Help Kids Living in Poverty

by KYW's Karin Phillips

A local community organization is holding a unique fundraiser on Saturday. It's designed to give families a chance to help kids living in poverty.

A Family Time to Give is being described as a family friendly "ungala" fundraising event.  Jeans and sneakers are probably the best dress, as people gather under a huge tent at the Cradles to Crayons warehouse - the Giving Factory - in Horsham, Pa. to go through thousands of books, clothing, toys and school supplies.

Jennifer Case, Founder and President of Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia, says she looks at the event as a chance to teach children the importance of community service.

"All to be cleaned, quality checked, processed, and packaged for children in need in shelters, hospitals, youth programs who are really disadvantaged and have nothing on their shelves during this cold winter season."
