Hillary Clinton to Speak at Memorial Service for Baker-Knoll

by KYW's Tony Romeo

Senator and former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton (at left in file photo, Lt. Gov. Baker Knoll on right) is scheduled to speak on Friday at a ceremony during which Pennsylvania will say goodbye to the late lieutenant governor Catherine Baker Knoll.

Governor Rendell says the family of the late Lieutenant Governor is “thrilled” that someone of Hillary Clinton’s stature will attend the memorial service:

“I think everyone is thrilled that she’s coming, and Catherine was very close to the Clintons from when they emerged on the national scene in 1992 all the way up through the Pennsylvania primary, and even after that.”

After the service on Friday, the capitol rotunda will reopen at 2pm, at which time the public will have until 2pm on Saturday to pay their respects to Lieutenant Governor Knoll, who will lie in repose in the rotunda.

Catherine Baker Knoll died on Wednesday of last week after a battle with cancer (see related story). Her funeral scheduled for Tuesday, November 25th in Pittsburgh.
