Intruder Killed by Phila. Homeowner in Botched Robbery

Philadelphia police were investigating the shooting death of a man who apparently broke into a home in South Philadelphia on Thursday night.

Police say a homeowner in the 1900 block of Montrose Street (in photo) arrived home about 10:30 and found someone inside his house. They say a struggle ensued and the intruder was fatally shot.

Police have not identified the homeowner or the victim. No charges have been filed.


Also on Thursday night, police discovered a homicide victim who apparently had been dead for several days. The victim has not been identified. Police say he is a man in his 60's.

His body was discovered in his home, in the 2100 block of Glendale Avenue, after a co-worker went to check on him.

Police say an autopsy will determine the cause of death. They had no motive or suspects in the slaying.
