A Montgomery County, Pa. volleyball coach and personal trainer is under arrest, charged with having a seven-month sexual relationship with a teenage girl he coached.
Prosecutors say the girl was 15 years old when she started having an affair with 38-year-old William Gordon III (above) of Durham Court in Lower Pottsgrove. They say the relationship ended earlier this month when his wife intercepted a text message the girl sent.
Montgomery County district attorney Risa Ferman says the girl told police the affair started in April with hugging and kissing, but escalated to sex four to five times a week between May and November:
"There are certainly some people out there who, while they may be aware that their actions are wrong, aware that their actions are criminal, they don’t care and they don’t think that they’ll be caught.”
After Gordon’s wife uncovered the affair, Ferman says, the girl told her mother, who confronted the coach.
Police say the sexual encounters took place inside Gordon’s home and at a Perkiomenville park.
The charges include indecent assault, corruption of minors, and child endangerment.
Prosecutors say he was affiliated with the Keystone Region Volleyball Association.
