In S. Jersey, Give an 'Energy Gift' This Year

Here’s a holiday gift idea you may not have considered. Why not pay a loved one’s electric bill? One area utility is offering up that option.

In this economy, it’s hard to pay the bills even for those with a house and a job. Enter what Atlantic City Electric calls the “Gift of Energy” for its half-million South Jersey customers. Utility spokeswoman Sandra May explains how it works:

“You just visit one of the courtesy centers, provide the service teller with the name and the address of the person who will receive your gift, make a payment on that person’s account.”

They’ll even give you a card to send out. There are limitations to the program, though. You have to have a specific recipient in mind. You can’t just ask that the gift go to someone in need. And you have to make the payments in person, not online or over the phone.
