One Philadelphia neighborhood is boasting an eco-friendly Christmas tree.
The Christmas tree at 3rd and Poplar Streets in Northern Liberties is 40-feet-tall, and it's lit by solar panels, a tradition that began last year:
"It was one of the three or four trees in the country that were done on solar last year. Rockefeller Center was one of the first to do it, and we're running the same type of lights and same panels here."
The tree is sponsored by the Northern Liberties Business Owners Association, and board member Neil Curlett says it fits right in:
"It's a nice twist for the neighborhood especially being a neighborhood developed by artists and folks that really focus on alternative methods."
Curlett says the tree is the largest Christmas tree in the city, and he says after they're done with it, it will be chipped and used as mulch for the park.
