Area Groups to March in Pres. Obama's Inauguration Parade

by KYW's Mike DeNardo

A couple of local groups have been selected to perform in President-elect Obama's inaugural parade on January 20th in Washington, DC.

Among the organizations picked to march in the inaugural parade are the Tiger Marching band from the AI DuPont High School in Greenville, Del. (above).

Band director Paul Parets got the call from the inaugural committee:

"Given the moment in history that any presidential inauguration -- and this one in particular -- means, I mean, it's a huge thing.  And I was so excited I could hardly wait to tell the kids."

Parets says he doesn't know if VP-elect Joe Biden -- who is from Greenville -- had anything to do with the pick.  Also in the parade are the Universty of Delaware marching band, and Boy Scout Troop 358 from Grace Baptist Church in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.
