Delaware County, Pa. authorities say they have solved the October murder of an 81-year-old disabled woman in Ridley Township. And, they say, the suspect is the same man who was arrested over the weekend for a murder in Upper Darby last month.
Jermaine Burgess (above), 37, of Springton Road in Upper Darby, is being held without bail, charged with murder and other offenses for the October 27th killing of Marie Ott. She was found in her Woodlyn home with a plastic bag over her head and her hands tied behind her back.
Delaware County DA Mike Green says it was a vicious, brutal crime, and he says police are now looking at other unsolved crimes:
"What I can tell you is this: our investigation going forward will look into any crimes of a similar pattern here in Delaware County as well as the City of Philadelphia.”
Police say Burgess confessed to Ott’s murder after he was arrested over the weekend for the November 10th murder of Hoa Pham in Upper Darby and the brutal beating and assault of his wife (see related stories).
Police DNA evidence linked Burgess to those crimes.
