Police in Medford, New Jersey say they\'ve arrested three people they believe are responsible for more than forty burglaries in the last three months. KYW\'s Pat Loeb says the trio got arrested when a homeowner surprised them during one of the alleged crimes.
Medford Police Chief Anthony Canale says the suspects would forcibly enter homes during the day, while the residents were at work:
"They had traveled through three counties, and were very quick at getting into homes, getting to the jewelry and back out the door."
Chief Canale says their luck ran out when a Medford resident came home unexpectedly and found their gold Cadillac in his driveway. He called police, who found the car and arrested the suspects. Investigators questioned them over the weekend:
"At least one of the actors was cooperative with police and we were able to recover over a thousand pieces of evidence."
Canale says victims can view and identify the jewelry and other items police recovered, once it\'s all been inventoried.
