Recovery from serious burns will get a little easier in the New Year, thanks to a donation from a Philadelphia law firm.
The gift of $25,000 from the firm Anapol, Schwartz, Weiss, Cohan, Feldman & Smalley to the Burn Foundation goes to establish a mentoring program. Firm managing partner Joel Feldman sees the need:
"Whether it's cancer survivors, people with substance abuse, alcohol or drug problems, there's all sorts of mentorship programs and so frankly I was amazed when I found out there was not a mentorship program for burn victims."
Burn Foundation Board Chair Carol Gadsden says HIPPA privacy regulations made it necessary for her group's informal help to become more formal:
"The training and the education and all attendant documentation and all that we would like to have for burn survivors and their families."
Start date, March 1st.
