The former head of Philadelphia's Home and School Council will have to stand trial on charges he stole more than $60,000 from the organization.
" 'I lost my income and basically spent it on my own stuff.' "
A Philadelphia police detective testified that was the response when he asked Greg Wade what happened to more than $60,000 missing from the Philadelphia Home and School Council.
Prosecutors say Wade, 53, the former head of the council, used $30,000 of council money to buy himself a 2009 Dodge Journey SUV.
The new head of the council, Delores Solomon, says that as a result, students who won $500 council scholarships have been unable to collect:
"Now, when they go to the college of their choice to access the funds, the monies, they were not able to have it there because it was...stolen."
Wade is charged with theft and forgery.
