Philadelphia firefighters were battling a small high-rise fire on Wednesday morning.
It broke out around 5:10am at Norris Apartments in the 200 block of North 11th Street in North Philadelphia.
A woman was taken to Temple University Hospital where she later died. A boy who was not immediately identified, reportedly jumped from a 5th-floor window. His condition was not immediately known. At least 11 other people suffered smoke inhalation and were being treated at the same hospital.
The blaze was quickly placed under control. The cause was unclear as of 5:30am. The American Red Cross meantime is assisting residents who were evacuated.
