Fire investigators are trying to find out what started a seven-alarm blaze at a Fern Rock apartment complex that forced dozens of people from their homes. No injuries were reported.
The cold weather didn’t stop an outpouring of warmth at the Philippian Baptist Church on Broad Street not far from the scene of the fire. People lugged in all kinds of donations, clothes, furniture, even some TVs for residents of the Grange Manor Apartments (see previous story).
Over 100 residents of the apartment complex lost just about everything in the seven-alarm blaze on Saturday.
Resident Regina Riley is grateful for emergency workers who assisted her:
“To replace the Red Cross and Salvation Army, church officials and many other groups were at the church to provide assistance.”
