Traveling Tips for People Heading to the Inauguration

by KYW's Larry Kane

If you're still planning to attend the presidential inaugural which is just one day away, there are some small, but important advice you should be aware of.

As George W. Bush readies the last-minute pardon papers, advice is pouring in on how to cope if you want to be there for the history. After attending six of these inaugurations, there are some things you should be prepared for.

If you're traveling on the Washington metropolitan transit line, have patience, it could be worse than the Phillies parade. Don't wear just comfortable shows, wear boots. It will be muddy in the grass on the Washington mall.

Bring blankets to rest on. If you can make it through the barriers, visit your congressman or woman. If they are not there, they are likely in the stands. If they are, they are probably Republicans.

Finally, there will be plenty of bathrooms, especially portables, but you should bring your own cleaning supplies.
