Pennsylvania's senior senator, Arlen Specter, is vowing to cooperate with the new president.
Senator Specter (file photo above), like all members of Congress, will seat behind Obama during the swearing in, and he says he's with the new President literally and figuratively:
"I'll be behind President Obama when he speaks (today) and I'll be behind him on his programs."
Specter spoke at a Martin Luther King luncheon just before heading down to DC:
"And in a sense President Obama will be carrying out the legacy of Dr. King: unity. And in President Obama you have a unifying force: mother and father of different backgrounds, different racial constituencies, and I think it is very symbolic."
Specter, a ranking republican on several key senate committees, says he'll work closely with the new president.
