If we’re lucky, we may see some flowers on Valentine’s Day. But our pets are not so lucky to be exposed to them.
Keep all flowers, bouquets, and floral arrangements away from your pets this Valentine’s day.
The Poison Control Center of the ASPCA cautions that there are various plants and flowers that can cause harm to your pets. For example, there are many types of lilies that are extremely toxic and potentially fatal to cats. If planning to send or receive flowers, eliminate lilies from the arrangement to protect your pet. You can check out a list of the most common poisonous flowers and plants as well as possible symptoms on their website at www.aspca.org.
They also offer a 24-hour emergency hotline at 1-888-426-4435.
The best idea would be to keep all plants and flowers safely out of reach. If you think your cat or dog has ingested a potentially toxic plant, contact your veterinarian immediately. Have a safe and happy Valentine’s Day for all involved, including your furry Valentines.
