The most important chew toy you can ever get for your dog is the Kong. Kong dog toys are widely used and make great puzzle toys for dogs as they offer dogs a challenge and therefore provide adequate mental stimulation. They satisfy your dog’s natural need to chew and also help clean teeth and gums. Kongs are made of natural rubber and are safe, non-toxic and extremely resilient. They’re much safer for your dog than other chew toys that can easily rip apart. They come in a variety of sizes for all types of dogs (including puppies) and are seemingly indestructible.
Most importantly, Kongs help to relieve stress in dogs as well. They are highly recommended by vets and trainers for therapy, training and conditioning, as well as prevention of boredom, destructive behaviors, separation anxiety and many other behavioral related problems. They’ve been developed so that they can be filled with healthy treats such as dog biscuits, peanut butter or even cheese or any healthy food of your choice. They can even be frozen for hours of chewing enjoyment.
March has been designated as “Give a Dog a Kong” month at the Pennsylvania SPCA.
Donate a Kong to the shelter to help the dogs stay occupied while they wait for adoption to their forever home.
