May is Asthma Awareness Month and Philadelphia's, especially, should become more aware of this growing problem.
Philadelphia ranks #2 of the top 100 worst cities to live for those suffering from asthma, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.
Dr. James Zangrilli, director of the asthma center at Thomas Jefferson University admits moving isn't an option, so sufferers must take control:
"There are two options. One, medication to control the inflammation inherent with asthma. Other thing, you have to control your environment, can't move, but there's a lot of things you can do to avoid allergens."
He says air pollution, public smoking laws, and poverty are all reasons asthma is worse in certain cities. For more information, go to aafa.org.
