Activist Gives Phila. Teens a No-Nonsense Antiviolence Message

by KYW's Karin Phillips

A Southwest Philadelphia community activist has organized a weekend of activities focusing on peace and unity.

Community activist and former boxer Paul "Earthquake" Moore is holding his annual Weekend of Unity and Peace this weekend, with a special emphasis on what he calls "making it plain."

Moore says at a Friday night skating party at the Elmwood Skating Rink, a funeral wreath will be on display as well as an urn containing the ashes of a youth shot in a senseless act of violence:

"I want to send a clear, hardcore message to our young adults, our families, our youth, that this is not a game. You're taking kids away, you're taking families away. Enough is enough, it's time to stop right now."

A motorcycle ride for peace with district attorney Lynne Abraham will take place Saturday, at Broad and Pattison.

For more information, contact Moore at 215-385-2696.
