Philadelphia attorneys marking Law Week on Friday will take on two well-known cases, from the ranks of fairy tales.
Volunteer lawyers will prosecute and defend the famous Goldilocks, and the Big Bad Wolf. Brian Chacker, chair of the Bar Association's Young Lawyers Committee on the Goldilocks charges:
"On an adult level, things like breaking and entering, theft, something like that, but because we're dealing with elementary school kids she's charged with four counts of bad manners. The Big Bad Wolf is charged with destruction of property and frightening someone."
These trials will take place in real-deal City Hall courtrooms but Chacker says they could have a fairy tale ending:
"The elementary school kids who we're presenting the trial to act as jury and get to decide."
If guilty, maybe Goldilocks' penalties could be too hard, too soft and just right.
