One should know, however, that there are big differences in salaries from for-profits to non-profits, especially for women, who comprise 70% of non profit positions yet make significantly less than men.
Many non-profit opportunities will be expanded by the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, passed on March 31st, which increases AmeriCorps slots for all ages from 75,000 to 250,000 in the next decade. Check the Internet for details.
