Former Area College Player Thriving as a Camden Rivershark

by KYW's Matt Leon

For the first time in the history of Gwynedd-Mercy College, a Griffins baseball player has signed a pro contract.  Righthander Anthony Capella is settling in with the Atlantic League's Camden Riversharks.

Capella (right) was a standout outfielder for the Griffins, but his powerful arm led to an eventual transition to the mound.  The 2007 graduate says he is always learning about the art of pitching:

"It's not just not going up there and throwing the ball.  There's a lot of things you have to learn.  From my college coach Paul Murphy: just doing the little things, staying back,  making sure you're keeping the same arm slots, different grips of the ball."

Capella has compiled a 1.93 ERA in four appearances for the Riversharks this season.
