After almost a decade of worshipping in a Bucks County high school, a local Catholic church is breaking ground at last on its very own home.
Establisned in the year 2000 by Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua, Our Lady of Guadalupe parish will finally have a place to call home.
Father Joseph Quindlen:
"Well, we've spent nine years preparing, and we're looking at a 1,200-seat church. We've been worshipping at Central Bucks East High School auditorium, thanks to the Central Bucks School District, and we're anxious to have our own church now."
He says the church, on Route 413 in Buckingham Township, is expected to be completed in about a year and a half:
"Believing people always want a house of worship to call their own, so we have the opportunity as a Catholic community to construct this facility in our own neighborhoood. And we can realize this is a sanctuary dedicated to the Lord where we can come to church on Sunday, and daily if we wish, to sustain our spiritual needs."
Parishoners have pledged $6.6 million toward a goal of $7 million.
