Faith in Philadelphia: Remembering Sister Cornelia Connelly

by KYW's Nancy Griffin

An international order of nuns based in Drexel Hill hosted walking and bus tours to remember their foundress.

Sister Carlotta Bartone (photo) says the tours' sites were central to the early life of the Society's of the Holy Child Jesus, foundress and Philadelphia native, Cornelia Connelly:

"She lived at 151 North 9th Street from 1819 to 1823."

Sister Bartone says Connelly's history is Philadelphia's history:

"Here at Christ Church, Cornelia's parents were married. And Christ Church was one of the centers of colonial life in early Philadelphia."
