The battle over proposed parking garages at SEPTA regional rail stations has taken another step -- on paper. A survey is being handed out to riders at rail stations in parts of Montgomery County.
It's called the Septa Commuter Prefernce [sic] Survey, and it asks commuters if they use the closest rail station; if not, why not; how they get there; and if they drive, where they park.
Olga McHugh of the Cheltenham Chamber of Citizens, whose group opposes a proposed parking garage at the Jenkintown-Wyncote train station, suggested Septa survey riders to determine if extra spaces would help, or if more service would better spread riders out along the system:
"We really are of the opinion that if a survey is created that is done properly, whatever the data points to, the community can live with whatever the outcome."
Septa officials say the spelling error has been corrected and the survey will be used to determine which changes are needed.
