A new program has been unveiled that will help improve child welfare.
The program is a computer system that helps different human agencies share information about children. Debra Schilling Wolfe with the field center for children's police and practice at the University of Pennsylvania says all photos, videos and other files will now be accessible from one system:
"To develop an innovative information technology system for child welfare that will revolutionize the child welfare system and protect children's lives."
She says a lack of communication was the reason many cases fell through the cracks in the system:
"Information isn't shared across the different services, information is shared within one agency -- but those systems don't talk to each other, nor do they share information routinely. This will help really bridge those gaps between all the different systems that serve kids and families."
