Remember to Relax This Memorial Day

by KYW's medical editor Dr. Brian McDonough

Memorial Day is a bit earlier this year, but I don’t hear anyone complaining, at least not the way people complain when Labor Day comes earlier.

The unofficial start of the summer is welcomed because it is a sign that there will be fun and relaxation along the way.

Of course, this year is different for many - in particular those who are out of work or the many who are fearful that their job is in jeopardy. If you are in that situation you might be thinking that there is no time for relaxation. This could not be further from the truth.

If you are on the job hunt, stressing out over potentially losing your job or in a relatively secure job and overworking to hit budget demands, give yourself a mental and physical break. Even if it is only a weekend, your body and more important your mind needs it.
