Local Adjuster Helping Homeowners With Insurance Claims

by KYW’s Paul Kurtz

A Bucks County public adjuster is trying to open the eyes of homeowners to the mysteries of insurance claims.  Mark Houser is launching his project with a workshop in Yardley Saturday.
Five out of ten homes have a $5,000 to $10,000 claim and the homeowner doesn't even know it.

Mark Houser says most homeowners don't even know what kind of policy they have. He's trying to change our collective ignorance through a self-help book entitled "Get Your House in Order" and a companion DVD:

”What we’re doing is we're educating people about exactly what an insurance adjuster knows and the rules that they use and the same strategies that a public adjuster uses, so that they can now understand their policy, they can know how to inspect their home and understand the scope of the claim.”

Houser believes if you take the time to learn the ins and outs of your homeowners policy, you handle the claim yourself and won't even have to hire a public adjuster.
