More with CBS's Jim Nance

by KYW's Ed Abrams

We're spending some time this weekend with CBS's Jim Nance, who doesn't get to play nearly as much as he'd like anymore, but is still passionate about the game he loves:

"I like the values that golf is surrounded by -- the basic tenets of the game.  Things that deal with common decency and civility.  You know, there are rules here that are honored.  This is not lawlessness.  This is not somebody trying to scam somebody else and win a big prize.

"It's a self-governed sport where there is honor, there is tradition.  And on top of it all, I was introduced to it by my father.  And we played together since I was a little boy.  And I'm just so proud that I was exposed to it at such a young age."

Nance is a nonresident member at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, and is gratified that the club is back in the USGA's plans --  hosting this fall's Walker Cup and the 2013 US Open.

You can hear more of his thoughts on Merion, and his old college roommate Fred Couples, in the podcast at right.
