On May 14th at Temple University, graduating students, like those generations before them, threw their hats in the air. They were happy, relieved but in many cases, scared.
People would ask them what they’d be doing and they had no answer. Understanding this kind of anxiety, Rachel Brown, director of the Career Center, open daily, organized a Job Search Open House immediately following the graduation ceremonies.
Students each received a Job Search Tool Kit and were introduced to the Center’s resources. According to Brown, while 22% of those companies that traditionally recruit new college graduates will not be hiring, 78% are looking for candidates.
For those of any age who are seeking employment, investigate the WEDNESDAY WORKPLACE sessions at Philadelphia’s Free Library Central at 19th and Vine. On June 10th, learn interviewing skills and on June 17th find out about Internet resources.
Government, teaching and healthcare have great job possibilities.
