It was a surprise for us when 13-year-old Shahid came into our studios on crutches after he broke his ankle playing football.

(Shahid:)  "I ran into the touchdown.  He was still coming so he pushed me and we both fell."
(Kane:)  "So you scored the touchdown?"
(Shahid:)  "Yes."
(Kane:)  "You didn't drop the ball?"
(Shahid:)  "No."
(Kane:)  "So you're sort of a hero?"
(Shahid:)  "Yes."

Shahid says Brian Dawkins is his favorite player even though he’s now playing with the Broncos:

“The reason I like him is because of that day he was playing against the Giants and he jumped and tackled him and it was my favorite play.”

Shahid also likes to play basketball and play car-racing video games.  And he says math is his favorite subject in school:

“And my second favorite subject is science.  Like, you get to do experiments and stuff, like in one of my classes we made slime.”

And Shahid says he wants a permanent family:

(Shahid:)  "I want a family who has a mom and dad and an older and younger brother."
(Kane:)  "So you'd like to be part of a family you can call your own?"
(Shahid:)  "Yes."
(Kane:)  "Do you think about that a lot?"
(Shahid:)  "Yes, often."
