Former CBS-3 news anchor Larry Mendte has completed his six-month house arrest sentence for hacking into the e-mail account of former colleague Alycia Lane.
Mendte's attorney says the electronic monitoring bracelet was removed from Mendte's ankle on Monday morning, but he remains on probation for the next 2½ years (related story).
Mendte pleaded guilty last summer, admitting that he had hacked into Lane's personal and work e-mail accounts (related story).
The government investigation revealed that Mendte was obsessed with Lane. Both Lane and Mendte were fired by the station. Lane's civil suit against Mendte and the TV station are still pending.
