Congress could be voting by the end of the month, on a controversial labor bill designed to make it easier for workers to unionize. And, as the vote nears, the battle is heating up.
One side calls the legislation the Employee Free Choice Act, the other calls it the Card Check bill.
And you may have heard ads from the Chamber of Commerce opposing the legislation:
"A bill that would strip away a worker's right to a secret ballot in union organizing campaigns - exposing workers to harassment and intimidation."
But, at a rally Wednesday evening, Labor leaders like CWA local 13,000 president Jim Gardler had a message for the Chamber of Commerce:
"Why you're against something that would create more jobs -- better paying jobs in this country, is ridiculous. You should change your position on this, stop putting out the negative campaign, stop putting out there the message that it takes away a secret ballot election, which it absolutely does not."
Gardler says under current law, it's nearly impossible to form a union, and the laws are necessary to even the playing field.
