One Seashore Town Allows Water Parks to Serve Alcohol

by KYW’s Ed Kasuba

North Wildwood, NJ now has an ordinance allowing the sale of alcoholic beverages at major water parks along the boardwalk.

Immediately benefiting from this new law is Morey’s Piers, which operates the new Ocean Oasis at its 25th Avenue water park.

North Wildwood mayor Bill Henfey defends the decision to allow the sale of alcoholic beverages on the beach:

“We feel as though it’s important for our community to come up with the times and be able to compete with other areas like Disney and all these other places.  We need to get up (to speed) with the modern age and allow our businesses to compete.”

Henfey points out there’s a restaurant on the North Wildwood boardwalk which sells alcoholic beverages and no problems have been reported since that was allowed 10 years ago.
