Limiting children's access to the computer and television may improve their health. This is the latest word from experts reporting in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
The key word here is limiting not eliminating.
Of course, the media has changed a great deal in the past fifteen years and it now includes TV, the internet, mp3 players and video games. According to their studies, increased media time has been linked to a wide variety of negative health factors for kids, including obesity, violence, sexual behavior, and eating disorders.
The authors suggest that parents have to step in and limit kids' media time to no more than 2 hours per day, with no easy access to a computer or TV in the child's bedroom.
