This site is just about indispensable. The fine folks at the computer security firm TrendMicro offer a free security scanning tool on their website. The tool will scour your computer for bugs, viruses and other cyber-nasties that can really foul up your system.
The scanner won’t fix all your problems, but can help identify them so you can know what to do. Also, it’s best if you have a high-speed connection – but even then, a full scan can take more than an hour.
