Police Make 2 Arrests Related to Shooting of Officer at Bar

by KYW's Ian Bush

Philadelphia police have made the first arrests in connection with a bar mêlée last weekend that led to the wounding of a police officer.

Philadelphia police officer Ashley Hoggard continues his recovery at Temple Hospital, where he's listed in good condition.

Neither of the two men now facing charges is accused of shooting Hoggard (see related story). But three others also suffered gunshot wounds at the bar at Broad and Somerset, and police say they're beginning to piece the events together.

Deputy police commissioner William Blackburn says Dwayne Robinson, 23, of the 6200 block of Langdon Street in the city's Oxford Circle neighborhood, is charged with attempted murder of one of the victims, after he was spotted on surveillance video:

"We saw an individual on the dance floor in a crowded area.  He was in possession of a gun.  Later on that gun was passed to Robinson, and after the shooting we observed Robinson give the gun back to the individual (who passed it along) to a third person outside the bar."

Police say one of those handoffs was taken by Joseph Cebollero, a 22-year-old from the 1200 block of W. Cambria Street in the Fairhill section.  He's jailed on weapons charges.
