Three young women from Manayunk will swim the English Channel on June 29th for MS awareness and to honor a friend who has the disease.
Tori DeLollo (center in photo), Trista Felty (left), and Kiersten Rosenberg (right) - former Villanova swim-mates and now roommates - will swim to honor a fourth swim-mate, Lauren Shulman, who has MS.
Trista explains:
"She got diagnosed in August 2007 and then I think Tori started really pushing the idea a little bit more throughout that year."
The Channel is cold and no wet suits are allowed for it to be official. Tori says they're prepared:
"We've been taking cold showers. We did swim in the ocean two weeks ago in Atlantic City. The water was about 58 degrees."
Kiersten says the swim is to raise money and awareness about MS:
"If there's nice weather and the currents aren't too bad, we should be able to make it."
