Couple Charged With Stealing $17,000 From Erdenheim PTA

by KYW's Brad Segall

A Montgomery County, Pa. couple has been charged with stealing several thousand dollars from the parent-teacher association at their child’s elementary school in Springfield Township (Montgomery County).

Authorities say that over a two-year period, while Kelli Goodrich was the treasurer of the PTA at Erdenheim Elementary School, she was making unauthorized cash withdrawals from the account and writing checks to her then-husband, Jason.

Montgomery County first assistant DA Kevin Steele says the total amount stolen is more than $17,000, and the investigation is ongoing:

"We have executed search warrants on the bank to make determinations concerning the records of deposits and withdrawals on that.”

Steele says the alleged thefts were uncovered during an audit that was being done when the association was making application to become an independent PTO.

Police say the couple has four kids, at least one of whom was in the school at the time of the alleged thefts.
The Goodriches are free on bail and have a preliminary hearing later this week.
